Public Group active 1 week, 4 days agoThe James River Association (JRA), a 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1976 by a group of citizens who were concerned with the declining health of the James River and were determined to do something about it. JRA is the only organization in Virginia working solely to protect and enhance the unique resources within the James River watershed. The mission of JRA is to serve as guardian of the James River. By providing a voice for the river, JRA takes action to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources. From its headwaters in the Allegheny Mountains to its mouth at the Chesapeake Bay, JRA works through four core programs of Education and Outreach, River Advocacy, James Riverkeeper and Watershed Restoration.
