Description
The Outdoor Leadership Program at Lynchburg College is offers a two day trainer course in Leave No Trace practices and ethics and to increase your level of expertise and confidence in teaching Leave No Trace skills and philosophies.
Through focused activities and hands-on field experiences, you will be introduced to concepts, practices, and methods that will advance your knowledge of Leave No Trace subjects. You will expand your range of minimal and low-impact skills and thus will be able to gain a greater ability to model and present the 7 Leave No Trace principles to others.
Each participant will present a 5-10 minute presentation on a pre-selected topic.
On completion of this course, you will be registered as a Leave No Trace trainer with the national Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and will receive a certificate of course completion as well as a Leave No Trace trainer lapel pin.
Eligibility
To participate, you should be an experienced hiker and bicycle rider and have an interest in ecology.

Requirements & Expectations
Gear
Personal gear, shoes, boots, sleeping bags, clothing are on your own. (All group gear, such as stoves, cooking equipment, and water treatment will be supplied.) At the time of registration, you will receive a planning packet that will include a detailed packing list.

You have the option to stay overnight in the campground facilities, or you may stay in nearby Bedford city.
Instructors
LC Outdoor Leadership Program coordinator Paul Stern is a Leave No Trace Master Educator and adjunct faculty in the outdoor recreation minor. Other instructors are student staff members of the Lynchburg College Outdoor Leadership Program who are Leave No Trace Trainers.
