4th Annual Earth Day Festival @ Washington Henry ES
Sunday 4/28 1-5pm
9025 Washington Henry Dr. Mechanicsville, VA 23116
In honor of Earth Day, Washington Henry Elementary School’s PTA Go Green Committee is proud to host our 4th annual Earth Day Festival on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Washington Henry ES and her students made a commitment to the environment 5 years ago and we continue to make strides every day. We believe that “by leaving greener footprints in our community” (our Mission), we are spreading the value and knowledge for a sustainable Hanover.
WHES’ Earth Day Festival will be held on Sunday April 28th from 1 to 5pm at the rear of our campus, near sports fields. This festival is sure to be a big hit with all our families and we hope all of Hanover. There are activities planned for all age groups and guaranteed fun for the whole family. Please join WHES and be a part of this wonderful free celebration of our Earth and environment.
Broken Road Farm Petting Zoo will be bringing over 50 animals to pet and learn about. Horses will be available for $2 per ride. At 2:30pm, Giggle Me Green Bargain Boutique will be hosting our much anticipated Recycled Fashion Show and 6 local bands are scheduled to play throughout the day!
Do you like to play Angry Birds, well come try our version of AB! There will be many carnival style games to play with prizes to win. Ever heard of a “Plant Walk” (sponsored by Hanover Farm and Garden), come find out what it is? Crafts, crafts and more crafts, did we mention crafts…come make a bird feeder, plastic bag flower and more. Want popcorn, well for $1 per bag you can pedal power your own popcorn! Did someone say pizza, we will be serving Brunetti’s Pizza for $1/slice.
We have vendors of all shapes and sizes …from candles to handmade fabric creations, body care products to plants, produce to jewelry…bring a little extra cash to check out what local artisans have to offer!
Want to try your luck at our amazing basket raffles, tickets are just $1 and there some really great prizes (like recycled tire soccer balls and Trader Joes!). Maybe you like gardening; come plant a small annual in our bus loop garden. There too many fun things to list (5th grade feud, cornhole, plastic bag basket ball, soccer, etc.)! Like to draw, come create your own chalk creation on our very boring brick wall.
Sunday, April 28th, 1-5pm Washington Henry ES (Shady Grove and Washington Henry Rd) be there or be reduced, reused, or recycled! This event is free and a whole lot of fun for all. Come spend the afternoon with your community and learn about how you can be sustainable too. If you would like to be a vendor, sponsor or volunteer for this event, please email WHESGoGreen@hotmail.com for more information. WHES believes in the environment; let us show you why on April 28, 2013.
